A Road Trip to Cullman — Festhalle Market Platz

veggies_farmers_mktThe Festhalle Market Platz is an outdoor farmer’s market covered by a huge wooden-framed pavilion that provides its customers a place to buy the freshest vegetables, artisan breads, canned goods, food trucks, and whatever else you can think of.

Located in the downtown Cullman area, visitors may shop there from April – October, every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m.

My friend K and I headed south of Huntsville last Saturday and found that Cullman had streets blocked off to promote the long pedestrian area. We parked for free and walked across the old train tracks to eat lunch at Rumors, a delicious Cullman, Alabama deli, where we both chose the chicken salad.

Oh, it was sooooo good!

Afterwards, we walked along the farmer’s market to see what was what.

Cindy of Cindy’s Creations offered her flavorful Hot Chow Chow that goes great on hotdogs or can stand alone with chips.

Cindy says, “This is one of the best things that I sell, along with the Cowboy Candy.” This entrepreneur is around my age and is in her 3rd year of business college. What an inspiration to me, personally!

She also takes pottery classes from a fellow Festhalle Market Platz vendor who runs  Abbott Pottery.

Stay tuned for the rest of the road trip story, when K and I visit one of my favorite stores on the face of the earth: Southern Accents Architectural Antiques. (Note: Very photo intensive!)

  1. Well…This little southern lady actually won’t touch okra with a 10-foot pole. 😉 It’s all prickly. Fortunately, Mom never made me eat it. I wonder if I ever even tried it? They say it’s good fried, but that’s not good for you.

But I will say that uncooked okra is very pretty to look at and photograph.
